What to look out for when being trained as a coach

When you are looking at being trained as a coach, you need to ask yourself:

a) Do I need training on how to be an effective coach? (skills coaching)
b) Do I need a system in order to deliver coaching? (systems coaching)
c) Do I need to learn how to run a successful coaching business?

Then you need to match the training offered to your needs.

Once you decide what you are looking for, you need to speak to as many graduates from the credentialing program as possible.

Questions you should be asking:

1. How many people were in the class that you attended?
2. How often do you receive ongoing training and support from the organization that trained you?
3. Who conducts the training? How qualified are they to conduct training?
4. How long is the training?
5. Does training include role play?
6. What sort of course material do you receive?
7. What if I forget something at training – is there some way I can speak to the trainer again?
8. How long after training can you apply the knowledge?
9. Does the training involve a systemized way to coach?
10. How does the training help you gain or retain clientele?
11. What is price for training? What does it include?
